Entomology
Things have been remarkably quiet in the last week. The extension entomologists in the region exchange information on Mondays on a conference call – this week’s call was more about the frustration of watching corn grow than about any insect pest. I have found no soybean aphid colonies on buckthorn. Potato leafhopper should have arrived on last week’s weather fronts, but I haven’t picked up any around MSU in my sweep net. June beetle adults are emerging, but not in huge numbers. The black cutworm moth numbers advancing from the south have petered out a bit. So, good news on the insect front.
